Robust Non-Classical Embedded Real-Time Systems

چکیده
Non-classical embedded real-time systems are characterised by in comparison to classical hard real-time systems less strict timing but more strict economic constraints. It is not possible to build such systems based on worst-case assumptions, since often, the worst-case to average-case ratio is rather bad. This calls for a new platform. A promising approach is to run an off the shelf non-real-time system on top of a real-time kernel. The problems raised by that kind of platform include protection against faults in and attacks on the off-shelf systems, adaptiveness to occasional overload and integration with time-driven platforms. For non-classical embedded systems, Europe currently relies on US platforms. Dresden’s real-time group has built a proof of concept of such a platform. This EoI is meant to let the EC know that we intend to bring this experience into an integrated project lead by the Philips research lab Eindhoven.

Robust Wagner–Whitin algorithm with uncertain costs
In real-world applications, costs for products are not deterministic: neither static nor dynamic. They actually tend to be non-stationary and cross-correlated. To overcome this drawback, there have been some efforts by researchers to extend the Wagner–Whitin algorithm to consider stochastic costs. However, they assume that the information of probability density function of random costs exists. ...
متن کاملField Programmable Gate Array Implementation of Active Control Laws for Multi-mode Vibration Damping
This paper investigate the possibility and effectiveness of multi-mode vibration control of a plate through real-time FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) implementation. This type of embedded system offers true parallel and high throughput computation abilities. The control object is an aluminum panel, clamped to a Perspex box’s upper side. Two types of control laws are studied. The first belo...
متن کاملRobust stabilization of a class of three-dimensional uncertain fractional-order non-autonomous systems
This paper concerns the problem of robust stabilization of uncertain fractional-order non-autonomous systems. In this regard, a single input active control approach is proposed for control and stabilization of three-dimensional uncertain fractional-order systems. The robust controller is designed on the basis of fractional Lyapunov stability theory. Furthermore, the effects of model uncertai...
متن کاملA Robust Scenario Based Approach in an Uncertain Condition Applied to Location-Allocation Distribution Centers Problem
The paper discusses the location-allocation model for logistic networks and distribution centers through considering uncertain parameters. In real-world cases, demands and transshipment costs change over the period of the time. This may lead to large cost deviation in total cost. Scenario based robust optimization approaches are proposed where occurrence probability of each scenario is not know...
متن کاملReal-Time Requirements Engineering (RTRE) as Extended to Hard and Soft Real-Time Analysis
Real-Time Systems (RTSs) have more stringent temporal requirements as compared to classical software. Requirements analysis for RTS is more complex compared to traditional software. Flowcharts as purely sequential tools are not sufficient for concurrent real-time systems. Besides, the requirements analysis leading to real-time software design varies from system to system contingent upon softwar...
